  1. Tara,
What a great marketing piece. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and have been lucky enough to watch the Moulin rouge live in Paris. I have to say it was a spectacular show and can relate to your beautiful description of it. “As you wonder through these quaint, winding streets, you will see our famous red windmill standing tall at the base of the hill”
Even though you use descriptive vocabulary that is so eminent in a descriptive style of writing, I am still fully aware this piece is marketing and can distinguish this immediately. I found when writing my pieces, there was a thin line between marketing and descriptive but you have managed to use lovely descriptive words to sell the show, still keeping with the marketing style.
I would have liked to see the words “Moulin rouge” stand out more. It is the name of the show you are selling so you do want this to stick in the readers mind and hit them from the start. A sentence I’m sure will stick in their minds is” So skip the rest and head straight to the best!” A simple but effective sentence used really well.
Starting the piece with a question is very powerful and invites the reader in. Having said this, I feel that by asking the question” Heading to Paris this Christmas?” you may be limiting your response. If the reader does not want to go to the Moulin at Christmas they may not read on, what do you think?

    Look forward to your response

  2. Hi Michelle,
    Glad you liked the piece.
I agree with you on both points there, I could do with making more of the moulin rouge name.
Also was thinking of changing the beginning and now you have mentioned it I will change it to "heading to Paris?". After all in Jan it will all be over!
    Thanks for your help.

    Tara.
